Washington, D.C. | Jefferson Memorial Couples Photography

If you’re looking for a timeless and romantic engagement or couples photoshoot location in Washington, D.C., the Jefferson Memorial is a stunning choice. With its elegant white columns, breathtaking views of the Tidal Basin, and soft golden light during sunrise or sunset, this iconic monument provides the perfect backdrop for capturing stunning moments.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing Kristen and Josh at the Jefferson Memorial, and their session was so fun and elegant!

Why the Jefferson Memorial is Perfect for Couples Photos
The Jefferson Memorial is one of D.C.’s most scenic and elegant locations for a couples or engagement session. Here’s why:
- Classic Architecture – The towering marble columns create a dreamy, sophisticated feel.
- Tidal Basin Views – During cherry blossom season or at sunrise, the reflections are breathtaking.
- Soft, Natural Light – Mornings offer beautiful golden light, while sunset provides a warm glow.
- Romantic & Timeless – The historic design makes your photos feel like they belong in a love story.

Kristen & Josh’s Romantic Sunrise Photoshoot
For Kristen and Josh, we planned a sunrise photoshoot to take advantage of the soft morning light and fewer crowds. We started just after 8:30 AM, and the glow on the marble columns was perfect!
Photoshoot Highlights:
Location #1: The Grand Steps – I captured moments of Kristen and Josh walking hand in hand, enjoying the morning quiet.
Location #2: The Columns – These shots felt elegant and cinematic, framing them beautifully between the towering pillars.
Location #3: The Tidal Basin – With the Washington Monument in the background, we took some wide shots with a dreamy, airy feel.
Location #4: The Dome Interior – The soft light inside the memorial created a romantic and intimate mood for close-up portraits.

What to Wear for a Jefferson Memorial Photoshoot:
If you’re planning your own couples or engagement photoshoot at the Jefferson Memorial, I recommend:
Flowy Dresses & Classic Looks – Light, neutral colors or pastels complement the marble beautifully.
Comfortable Shoes – There’s a lot of walking, so bring stylish but comfy footwear! You can also bring nicer shoes to change into for your photoshoot.

Best Time for a Jefferson Memorial Photoshoot:
Sunrise (Best Option!) – Soft, golden light & fewer crowds.
Sunset – Warmer tones, but can be busier.
Cherry Blossom Season – late March through April for a magical pink backdrop.
